First Volleyball State Title in Summerville Parks and Recreation History
The Summerville Parks and Recreation Department is proud to announce that the 12U Summerville Lady Indians are the 2025 Georgia Recreation and Park Association (GRPA) Class B/C State Champions, earning the first volleyball state championship in the department’s history.
The Lady Indians dominated the postseason from start to finish. In the District 5 Tournament, the team secured victories over Gordon County, Trion and Cedartown to claim the district title and punch their ticket to the state tournament.
Competing in the State Tournament hosted by Jackson County, the Lady Indians delivered a flawless performance, defeating Banks County, South Bryan and Barrow County—not dropping a single set throughout the entire event. Their undefeated run highlights the team’s consistency, discipline and exceptional teamwork.
The historic championship season was led by Head Coach AJ Watkins and Assistant Coach Brandon Stewart, whose leadership and dedication guided the team to new heights.
The championship roster includes:
Journee Baltimore, Preslea Lamb, Zaidee Moore, Macie Reed, Kenzie Rutledge, Cianna Stewart, Londyn Tutt and Ka’leiah Watkins.

“This group of athletes has set a new standard for youth volleyball in Summerville,” said Summerville Parks and Recreation Director Adam Wilson. “Their hard work, sportsmanship and commitment to the game have brought home a championship that will be remembered for years to come.”
