Recently the Trion High School Spanish Club held a lunch meeting to celebrate Dia de Los Muertos, commonly known as Day of the Dead.
Dia de Los Muertos, is a very popular holiday in the Spanish-speaking world. While many cultures celebrate, each culture celebrates, following different traditions and customs. Across all cultures;however, it is a vivacious celebration of life! Most commonly, the day is honored on November 1 and 2.
Junior Brylea Kate Whitiker and Spanish Club member said, “I loved learning and immersing myself into a new culture, by learning about an annual celebration of life I do not typically partake in!”
THS Spanish Club decorated cookies shaped like the popular sugar skeleton to commemorate the occasion! They also enjoyed some authentic horchata! Students had a lot of fun, laughing and learning all in one!
“I had so much fun putting frosting on skull cookies!” Stated Spanish Club member Zulmy Ambrocio.
Overall club members had a great time on Dia de los Muertos!
