On April 8, 2025, Dr. April Aldridge, Deputy Superintendent for Curriculum and Instruction at the Georgia Department of Education, visited Trion City Schools to present prestigious awards to all three schools in the district. Trion Elementary School, Trion Middle School, and Trion High School each received the Masters of Mathematics award, recognizing their outstanding implementation of Georgia’s K-12 Mathematics Standards and exceptional student achievement in math. Trion Middle School was also honored with the Literacy Leaders award for its significant strides in improving student reading proficiency.
Dr. Hughes, Assistant Superintendent, expressed pride in the recognition, stating, “It is an honor to have Dr. Aldridge present these awards. We are thrilled that the efforts of our administrators, teachers, staff, and students have been recognized at the state level.”
Superintendent Dr. Phil Williams added, “These awards reflect the hard work and dedication of our school community, building on our tradition of academic excellence.”
Presented on behalf of State School Superintendent Richard Woods, the Masters of Mathematics award celebrates schools as “Georgia Math Leaders” for fostering student success in mathematics. The Literacy Leaders award highlights Trion Middle School’s commitment to advancing literacy, a cornerstone of lifelong learning. Trion City Schools’ achievements underscore their leadership in education across Georgia.
