Homecoming is an American high school tradition consisting of multiple events celebrating school spirit. Homecoming often includes the big football game, a homecoming parade, school pep rallies, spirit week, and, thanks to popular films, the most well-known elements: the Homecoming Court and Homecoming Dance.
Each year, Trion participates in these events. For this year’s Homecoming Football game, the Trion Bulldogs will play against Manchester High School on October 23rd, with a Pink-Out pep rally that morning. Spirit week, which precedes the big game, includes five different dress-up days with the following themes: White House (Patriotic and Founding Fathers), Haunted House (Gothic and Spooky), Fun House (Wacky Wednesday and Mismatched Clothing), Jailhouse Rock (Favorite Musician or Band), and finally, Barbie House for Pink Out. The Homecoming Court is announced during halftime of the game, with contenders announced several weeks beforehand. These events typically stay the same each year, with one exception: the Homecoming Dance.
Trion High School hasn’t always held a Homecoming Dance. In recent years, interest in the tradition has picked up, with Trion holding one for at least the past three years. For the 2026-2027 school year, however, THS will not hold a traditional homecoming dance like it has the past couple of years. Due to scheduling conflicts and to avoid overlapping with competitions, the dance has been moved earlier in the year and reimagined as something new.
On Saturday, September 19th, 2026, a full month before the other homecoming events, THS will hold the Harvest Moon Gala at the Summerville Train Depot. Tickets purchased in advance are $10, while tickets at the door the day of the dance will be $15. The dance is hosted by THS clubs FCCLA, FBLA, and TSA, with officers and members from these clubs selling tickets. Semi-formal dance attire is required, and clothing must be clean, neat, and appropriate for the occasion. Students have also been able to submit their own song requests for the dance through a Google Form.
On Saturday, the Trion Bulldogs will party it up! They hope to see their students having a paw-tastic time!
