The Princeton Review, a premier college-search aid, recently named Berry College in their annual Guide to Green Colleges.
There are 2,600 four-year collegiate institutions in the United States. The Princeton Review profiled only 511 schools in this year’s Guide to Green Colleges, which includes schools based on exceptional programs, policies and practices related to sustainability and the environment.
“We are seeing substantive interest among college applicants in attending green colleges,” Editor-In-Chief of The Princeton Review Rob Franek said.
The Princeton Review surveyed nearly 8,000 students in 2024 to learn about their hopes and worries while choosing colleges. 61% of students said that information about a college’s commitment to sustainability and the environment would impact their college decision.
“Berry College promotes renewable energy and integrates environmental stewardship into its curriculum and campus operations,” Berry’s Director of Environmental Compliance and Sustainability Eddie Elsberry said.
Berry dedicates itself to sustainability through initiatives like campus-wide recycling, energy conservation and eco-friendly agriculture on its farm and ranch.“With its expansive campus, Berry serves as a living laboratory, providing opportunities for conservation efforts, forestry management and wildlife research,” Elsberry said. “This hands-on approach encourages students and the community to actively engage in sustainability practices.”
