Saturday, October 5th the Chattooga Marching Indian Band travelled to Winfield High School to compete in the 18th annual Pirate Classic marching band competition held in Winfield, Alabama.

After a full day of watching bands compete from as far away as Mississippi, the CHS Band walked away with the following scores: band excellent, drum major – superior, color guard – superior and percussion – superior.

Not only is tonight Recreation Night, the middle school band students from Summerville, Lyerly and Menlo schools will join their high school band counterparts to play stand tunes and see how a halftime show is performed which will give them insight on whether or not they would like to be in next year’s marching band.

Tomorrow, the band will travel to Daleville, Alabama to compete in the Daleville Marching Invitational. This will also be the band’s overnight trip, culminating with a Sunday visit to the Alabama Safari Park before heading home Sunday evening.

If you have not seen this year’s halftime show, Journey of Love, come out to Buddy Windle Field tomorrow and see the Marching Indians perform during halftime, the show has undergone creative changes since last being performed, so tonight will be a great time to see what the Marching Indians will be performing in competition this weekend.
