Five Trion Middle School Earned Honors Band Chair

Godfrey's

During the month of December, seven Trion Middle School students earned themselves a seat in the 2025-2026 GMEA District 7 Middle School Honors Band.

In order to be selected, each student had to attend an audition on December 6, 2025, and advance through each round.

Oliva Blankenship earned first chair oboe, Kayson Koonce earned third chair bass clarinet, Cameron Booker earned eighth chair alto saxophone, Skylar Thacker earned sixteenth chair trumpet, and Perri Parris earned eighth chair flute.

The honor to be selected as an honors band member is a true testament to the students’ hard work, dedication, and above all their love for music, or as Koonce said it, “just practice and breathe and just play and above all, give your heart to your music”.

All these students are beyond proud and honored to be selected for honors band, however, they are also inspiring their band peers to strive for excellence. Paris stated, “I am 1001% honored that I got picked, but to anyone who did not should always remember that there is a next time. A judges’ opinion on your performance doesn’t define you.”

These musically magnificent students represented the Pride of Trion Marching band beautifully. Trion Band has an extremely bright future with these budding musicians.

Congratulations on your amazing accomplishments!
