The Chattooga High School CTAE construction team delivered an outstanding performance on November 14th at the South-Southwest AGC Skills Challenge and Tulsa Welding Competition in Moultrie, bringing home multiple first-place finishes, thousands of dollars in scholarships, medals, banners, and tremendous pride for the entire Chattooga County community.
Tulsa Welding Competition (Scholarship Awards): 1st place- Landon Dawson- $8,000 scholarship, 2nd place- Skylar Ward- $5,000 scholarship, 3rd place- Gunnar Henderson- $3,000, and 5th place- Cooper Hampton
AGC South-Southwest Skills Competition Results: Electrical- 1st place: Matthew Busby | 2nd place: Pedro Lopez
Plumbing- 1st place: Riley Willis
Blueprint Reading- 3rd place: Corbin Wiggins
Carpentry- 1st place: Kasen Elsberry
Welding- 1st place- Parker Powell
Masonry- 3rd place: Jonas Hardy
Construction Teacher Bengi Price, “Over four competitions, the CHS construction skills team has now been awarded $6,800 in prizes, numerous medallions, banners- all theirs to keep.” He added, “I am very proud of my skills team and all the accomplishments, and I’m looking forward to state competitions!” With dominant showings across welding, plumbing, carpentry, masonry, and blueprint reading, the Chattooga Indians proved once again that their hands-on CTAE programs are among the strongest in Georgia. The team now turns its focus to upcoming state competitions, where it will look to add even more hardware to an already impressive season.
