According to Sheriff Jeff Shaver, the Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office and the Cloudland Fire Department have partnered to open another Sheriff’s Office substation, which will be located inside the new Cloudland Fire Department building on County Road 66.
One of the greatest challenges for any Sheriff’s Office, both in rural and urban counties, is ensuring a strong law enforcement presence in every community of a county because of the geographic distance between each community. The opening of this substation will allow the Sheriff’s Office to have a greater presence in the Cloudland community.
Sheriff Shaver stated, “We appreciate Chief Cavin and the Cloudland Fire Department for graciously opening up their facility to us to offer an office for deputies to stop to do paperwork and at times meet with people for reports or other matters.”
The Cloudland substation marks the third Sheriff’s substation in Cherokee County. Sheriff’s substations were added in Gaylesville and Sand Rock in recent years and, according to Sheriff Shaver, the Sheriff’s Office is working to add additional substations in the near future.
