Chattooga County Man Arrested on DUI and Serious Injury Charges Following Wreck

Billy Joe Dooley, 59, was arrested on January 23, 2026, following a traffic crash that resulted in serious injuries, according to records from the Chattooga County Sheriff’s Office.

Dooley was booked into the Chattooga County Jail at approximately 10:09 p.m. on January 23 after being arrested by GSP earlier that evening. Jail records list the following charges:

• DUI / Drugs / Less Safe

• Failure to Stop at a Stop Sign

• Reckless Driving

• Serious Injury by Vehicle

At the time of booking, Dooley was being held with no bond listed on the charges.
