The 90th Masters Is Underway — and One Chattooga County Native Has a Front Row Seat

The 90th Masters Tournament is officially underway at Augusta National, with 91 golfers taking to one of the most iconic courses in the world. Defending champion Rory McIlroy is back to defend his title, while World No. 1 Scottie Scheffler enters as the betting favorite looking to claim his third green jacket. Course changes this year include a lengthened 17th hole.

Chattooga County has its own connection to Augusta National this week, and her name is Aubree Evans.

A 2022 graduate of Chattooga High School, Aubree is spending Masters week exactly where she wants to be — inside the ropes at Augusta National. She heard about the opportunity, went straight to the Masters website, applied, completed a virtual interview, and got the call. She is working concessions this week, and while it is hard work, she has gotten to explore much of the club, been around most of the players, and has taken full advantage of every single second she gets to take it all in. Her words? It is one hundred percent as perfect as she imagined.

When the tournament wraps up this weekend, Aubree heads back to Athens to finish her final semester at the University of Georgia, where she will graduate in May with a Bachelor of Science in Biology. After that, she is off to PA school with her sights set on becoming a surgical PA.

Not a bad way to spend the week before the next chapter starts.

Catch first round coverage today on Amazon Prime Video starting at 1 p.m. and on ESPN from 3 to 7:30 p.m.

Chattooga County is proud of you, Aubree. Enjoy the Tournament!
