The first phase of a new inclusive playground at the Walker County Civic Center will soon be complete. Construction crews have assembled the main super structure and will begin installing the poured in place rubber surfacing after the first of the year, providing ADA accessibility and shock absorbency to protect against a life-threatening head injury.
Early next year, phase two will see the addition of a climbing boulder station on the eastern end of the playground.
Plans for an additional phase would expand the play area adding swings and a zipline with adaptive seating, along with new climbing features. If your business or organization would like to contribute to the playground expansion project, reach out to Joe Legge at j.legge@walkerga.us.
