Rep. Mike Cameron Applauds Pilgrim’s Investment in Walker County, Creating 630 New Jobs in LaFayette

State Representative Mike Cameron (R-Rossville) applauds a recent announcement made by Governor Brian Kemp that Pilgrim’s, a leading global provider of high-quality food products, is set to build a new prepared foods facility in LaFayette, Walker County. This $400 million investment will generate more than 630 new jobs for Georgians in House District 1, which Rep. Cameron represents.

“Today’s announcement marks a significant win for Walker County and the entire Northwest Georgia community,” said Rep. Cameron. “Pilgrim’s is a global leader in food production, and their commitment to creating new opportunities for Georgia families and investing in our local economy will enhance our workforce and contribute to a promising future for the region. I want to thank Governor Kemp for his leadership and continued support of Georgia’s economic growth. Additionally, I’d like to acknowledge the local leadership in LaFayette, Walker County for their work to make this expansion possible. This effort will ensure that our community remains a hub for job creation and economic opportunity for years to come.”

The new facility, which will be located at the Walker County Business Park in LaFayette, will produce various fully cooked chicken products which will support the prepared foods business. The project is expected to get underway in the fall of 2025, and hiring is expected to begin in 2027, which will coincide with the projected completion of the first phase of construction.

Across the State of Georgia, Pilgrim’s currently supports an estimated 7,500 jobs and operates seven food production facilities, in addition to supporting facilities like feed mills and hatcheries. Pilgrim’s employs more than 61,000 people worldwide and operates protein processing plants and prepared-foods facilities in 14 states, Puerto Rico, Mexico, the United Kingdom, the Republic of Ireland and continental Europe.
