Band Director Andy Cox has spent more than a dozen years as the Music Man in ‘T’ Town. And this T doesn’t stand for trouble, it is the big blue T of Trion, Ga. Located in Chattooga County, Trion is the denim production capital of the world and their schools are best known for academic excellence but, in the world of music, Mr. Cox has put Trion on the map as one of the most consistently great Class A marching bands in the state. When he took the job at Trion High School in 2002, Andy inherited 34 band members and a program so small that a lot of musical numbers weren’t even an option. Over the course of the next decade, Cox transformed the band culture at Trion. By being in control over the entire band program, from 6th through 12th grade, Cox has been able to set higher expectations. Not just for skill and performances, but for responsibility, discipline and leadership.
