As October draws to a close, communities across Northwest Georgia are gearing up for a frightfully fun lineup of Halloween celebrations. From candy walks to jack-o’-lantern displays, there’s something for every ghoul and goblin to enjoy.
Walker County Fall Festival
The Walker County Civic Center will play host to a free Fall Festival on Friday, October 24 from 4:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. on the Civic Center Campus, 10052 Highway 27 in Rock Spring.
Activities will include inflatables, a petting zoo, a hay maze, a prize wheel, a pumpkin patch, yard games, live music, shopping and food! Drop in or come and stay for a while. The newly expanded playground at Walker Rocks Park will also be open for your enjoyment.

YMCA BooFest – October 24
Families looking for a safe trick-or-treating alternative can head to Georgia Highlands College in Rome on Friday, October 24, from 6 to 9 p.m. for the YMCA’s annual BooFest.
The family-friendly event will feature a Trick or Treat Village, family dance with DJ, face painting, bounce houses, train rides, games, and more. All proceeds benefit the Rome YMCA and provide programs to under-resourced children and families in the community.

Summerville’s Triple Halloween Treat – October 25
Summerville is pulling out all the stops on Saturday, October 25, with three Halloween events throughout the day.
Pumpkin Palooza Market & Halloween Candy Walk (10:30 a.m. – 3 p.m.)
Summerville Main Street and the Summerville Trion Optimist Club will host the annual Pumpkin Palooza Market at the Depot and Downtown Halloween Candy Walk along the East Washington Streetscape.
The Halloween Candy Walk, sponsored by the Summerville Trion Optimist Club, runs from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. along East Washington Street. Participating businesses, churches, clubs, and civic organizations will hand out candy and treats to costumed trick-or-treaters.
Road closures will be in effect from 6 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. on East Washington Street Streetscape entrances at US 27/Commerce Street and University Street intersection, as well as Economy Street entrances.

Youth Halloween Costume Contest (11:30 a.m.)
Children ages newborn through 12 can compete in a costume contest at 11:30 a.m. inside the Open-air Pavilion. Registration begins at 11:15 a.m. This contest is sponsored by Summerville Main Street.
Special Steam Engine Arrival (1 p.m.)
The Tennessee Valley Railroad Museum will bring a steam engine train to the depot at 1 p.m., adding vintage charm to the festivities.
Night of The Jack O’ Lanterns (7-8 p.m.)
The evening culminates with a magical jack-o’-lantern display at the Historic Couey House. Families of all ages and skill levels are invited to bring carved pumpkins to display and light up using flameless candles or flashlights.
Jack-o’-lanterns may be registered on-site between 6:30 and 7 p.m. Attendees are encouraged to bring lawn chairs or blankets for seating to enjoy storytelling on the Couey House porch. Free refreshments will be served to families bringing carved pumpkins.
Live entertainment includes a performance by “The Sanderson Sisters” and other surprise guests. This free event is sponsored by Summerville Main Street.
Free Doughnuts
Don’t forget to dress up for free treats! This Saturday, October 25, and again on Halloween, October 31, anyone who visits a participating Krispy Kreme location in costume can snag a free Original Glazed® or Classic Ring Doughnut – no purchase necessary.
Trion Halloween Walk – October 31
Due to the Trion home football game being rescheduled to Thursday, October 30, the Town of Trion Annual Halloween Walk has been moved to Halloween night, Friday, October 31.
A 9 p.m. curfew will be in effect at the conclusion of the event. Participants are asked to be respectful of residents in the area who are not participating in the Halloween Walk festivities.
For safety, please remember to cross the street at the crosswalk in front of the football field.
