GBI Arrests Former Hall County Sheriff’s Office Investigator for Misuse of a License Plate Reader System

The GBI has arrested and charged Justin Brown, age 42, of Dahlonega, GA, with two counts of Misuse of a License Plate Reader System and two counts of Violation of Oath of Office. At the time of the offenses, Brown was employed by the Hall County Sheriff’s Office as an investigator.

On August 18, 2026, the Hall County Sheriff’s Office requested the GBI to investigate allegations of employee misuse following an internal audit of the Flock Safety System. Preliminary information indicates that Brown accessed the Flock Safety System for non-law enforcement purposes.

Brown booked into the Hall County Detention Center.

Once the investigation is complete, the case file will be given to the Piedmont Judicial Circuit District Attorney’s Office for prosecution. The Piedmont Judicial Circuit District Attorney’s Office was appointed by the Prosecuting Attorney’s Council of Georgia to prosecute this case.
