From Chattooga to Center Stage: Caleb Veitch Dances in Lady Gaga’s Music Video

For Caleb Veitch, a lifelong dream became reality when he had the opportunity to dance alongside Lady Gaga in her latest music video. Veitch, a 2019 valedictorian of Chattooga High School, has been a devoted fan of the pop icon since he was seven years old. Now in his second year of medical school at the University of Georgia, he found himself trading textbooks for choreography when he and his best friend, Hope, entered a nationwide contest hosted by Mastercard and Lady Gaga.

The contest, held in conjunction with the release of Gaga’s song Abracadabra in February, challenged fans to learn and perform the song’s choreography. Veitch and Hope submitted their video on February 8, and out of all the entries across the country, they were selected as one of the top 15 winners.

As part of their prize, they were flown to Los Angeles over spring break to film the music video with Lady Gaga herself. During the filming, Veitch experienced firsthand the kindness and humility of his idol. “She was so kind and humble and kept telling us how inspired she was by our talent,” Veitch shared.

Following the video shoot, Veitch and the other winners attended an exclusive afterparty, where they participated in a flash mob performance of the choreography. In a moment he will never forget, Gaga herself snuck up behind them and began filming the flash mob on her phone. “She was right in my face filming all of us,” Veitch laughed. “I almost passed out!”

For Veitch, this experience was more than just an exciting moment—it was a full-circle life achievement. “Anyone that knows me knows what Lady Gaga means to me and has meant to me since I was seven years old,” he said. “Not only did I get to meet her, but I danced in her music video with her! I will never get over this experience, and I can literally die with a smile now.”

As he prepares for his first board exam in June, Veitch sees this unforgettable experience as a well-timed break from the rigors of medical school. But his Gaga journey isn’t over yet—he and Hope, along with their friend Cam, are set to see her perform live at Madison Square Garden in August.
