Among the night’s highlights was the recognition of Cooper Hampton, a junior at Chattooga High School, who the Cherokee Area Council River District awarded the prestigious Eagle Project of the Year.

Cooper’s project, titled the Montessori Playground Revamp, was inspired by his preschool experiences at the Montessori School and the lasting impression of Mrs. Wanda, one of his early teachers. With a heartfelt desire to give back to the place that shaped him, Cooper spearheaded this initiative, showcasing the values of leadership, service, and gratitude that Scouting seeks to instill in its members.

Below are photos of Cooper’s award winning project.

His project stood out among many exceptional submissions for its meaningful mission and its positive impact on the community.

The awards ceremony served as the Council’s largest, and most important, recognition event for local Scouts and adult volunteers. The event was held at the Westin in downtown Chattanooga.

Cooper’s achievement is a testament to his dedication and compassion, and his community couldn’t be prouder. Congratulations, Cooper, on this well-deserved recognition!
