Atrium Health Floyd Cherokee Medical Center is proud to announce expanded services in its Women’s Imaging Suite, which opened earlier this year following a $1 million investment. The suite now offers screening and diagnostic mammography as well as breast ultrasound on-site, providing patients in Cherokee County, Alabama, and surrounding communities greater access to essential care close to home.
“These new services represent our ongoing commitment to improving access to care for women in our community,” said Ches Ely, Director of Imaging Services at Atrium Health Floyd. “By offering diagnostic mammography and breast ultrasound locally, we are ensuring that patients receive timely, high-quality imaging without having to travel long distances.”
The Women’s Imaging Suite, which officially opened in March, was designed to bring advanced technology and compassionate care to northeast Alabama. It features the latest, most advanced 3D mammography technology, delivering superior breast screening capabilities for early detection and improved accuracy.
In addition to screening mammography and bone density scans, the suite now provides diagnostic imaging for patients who need further evaluation following a screening mammogram. These enhancements support Atrium Health Floyd’s “Know in 24” pledge, ensuring patients receive results quickly and can move forward with any necessary care.
Breast cancer remains the second-most common cancer among women in the United States, with one in eight women facing a diagnosis in their lifetime. Expanding imaging services at Cherokee Medical Center underscores Atrium Health Floyd’s mission to deliver lifesaving care and strengthen rural health resources.
