Often the first voice heard in a time of crisis, Walker County dispatchers provide life-saving assistance to callers in distress, while calmly working behind the scenes to coordinate emergency services.
In celebration of the upcoming National Public Safety Telecommunicators Week, Walker County invites the community to help recognize the critical work of our Emergency Communications (E-911) dispatch team by adopting a dispatcher.Community members, local businesses, and organizations can show their appreciation by filling out a short adoption form on the county’s website to be matched with a member of the Walker County E-911 team. Adopters will receive some basic information about the dispatcher to inspire thoughtful expressions of appreciation — from handwritten notes and drawings to small gifts or tokens of thanks. These gestures will then be shared with dispatchers during Telecommunicators Week as a way of showing heartfelt community support.
“Our dispatchers are vital members of the public safety team, connecting those in need with law enforcement, fire, and medical assistance around the clock,” said Curtis Creekmur, Director of E-911. “Their work often goes unseen, but their impact is felt by every resident who calls for help.” National Public Safety Telecommunicators Week takes place April 12-18. Nationally, this week is set aside to honor public safety telecommunicators for their commitment and sacrifice — a testament to their indispensable role in keeping communities safe. The “Adopt a Dispatcher” form is available at walkercountyga.gov/
