Walker Board Approves Courthouse Exterior Renovation Project

The Walker County Board of Commissioners recently voted to award a $763,969.00 contract to Masonry Specialists for exterior restoration of the Walker County Courthouse.

The Walker County Board of Commissioners recently voted to award a $763,969.00 contract to Masonry Specialists for exterior restoration of the Walker County Courthouse. The work includes tuck pointing, pedestrian traffic coating, overhead spall repair, retaining wall repair, brick angle repairs, construction of an ADA ramp, and repair of the main entrance front steps.

District 2 Commissioner Mark Askew and District 3 Commissioner Brian Hart, along with county staff and others, assembled a Request for Proposals (RFP) for all the exterior work that needed to be addressed.

Funding for renovations to the courthouse was approved by voters in the 2020 SPLOST.

The contractor has until the end of the year to complete the project.
