U.S. Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, R-Rome, will preside over her first hearing as chair of the House Oversight Subcommittee on Delivering on Government Efficiency (DOGE) this Wednesday, February 12, at 10 a.m. The hearing, titled “The War on Waste: Stamping Out the Scourge of Improper Payments and Fraud,” will focus on government spending inefficiencies and fraud.
“I have waged the War on WASTE. This Wednesday, February 12, at 10 AM, I will hold the first DOGE Subcommittee hearing to stamp out the scourge of improper payments and fraud.
Under Medicare and Medicaid, 2.7 trillion tax dollars has gone to nought. While the Biden Regime was in charge, over $100 billion went up in flames. The rest of the Republican DOGE Subcommittee members and I are committed to fixing what is broken. It’s time to get the work on YOUR behalf,” Greene stated.
Although distinct from the Department of Government Efficiency led by Elon Musk, the subcommittee is anticipated to become a focal point for partisan debates over the Trump administration’s federal government overhaul efforts. In addition to the subcommittee, lawmakers in both chambers have established “DOGE” caucuses to discuss legislative measures to enhance government efficiency.
Beyond government spending, Rep. Greene announced a March hearing to examine federal funding for National Public Radio (NPR) and the Public Broadcasting Service (PBS). In letters to the CEOs of both organizations, she accused them of biased reporting and questioned their eligibility for taxpayer funding. Greene has requested that NPR and PBS executives testify at the upcoming hearing.
