Sheriff Proctor Awards 3 with Lifesaving Award

Camden County Sheriff Jim Proctor recently recognized three of the Jail Correction Officers for saving the life of a jail inmate.

On November 8th, 2019 a female inmate was observed to be unresponsive in her cell.  Corporal Sonya Anderson, Officers Rufus Barnes, and Ryan Biegel checked the female’s condition and determined that she was not breathing and did not have a pulse. 

CPR was begun by the three jail employees, as Camden County Fire/Rescue responded to the jail.   The female was transported to Southeast Georgia Regional Medical Center, Camden Campus. The inmate was stabilized and transported to Shands Medical Center in Jacksonville for further treatment. 

Sheriff Jim Proctor said “I am extremely proud of the three Officers that kept calm, used the first aid and CPR training they received, which saved the life of the inmate that was unresponsive. It is an honor to present Cpl. Anderson, Officers Barnes and Biegel with these Lifesaving Awards.”
