Crystal Anderson, an Adult Opportunity Coach from WorkSource Georgia, visited Ogeechee Technical College’s (OTC) ACCT110 Financial Accounting I class last week to discuss the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity ACT (WIOA) program.
“We were grateful to have Crystal come share with our class the qualifications required to join the program and detail the various services it offers, including tuition assistance,” said Angie Glisson, an Accounting Instructor at OTC.
The information session provided valuable insights into how the WIOA program can support OTC students’ career development and educational goals. As a bonus for the students in attendance, the session counted as orientation which checks one of the boxes for applying to the program.
WIOA provides a range of services to support both job seekers and employers. These services include job search assistance, workforce preparation, and career development support, all aimed at helping individuals secure meaningful employment. WIOA also offers training opportunities, such as classroom-based and work-based learning, to help individuals build skills for the modern workforce.
By connecting job seekers to education, training, and employment opportunities, WIOA also helps employers find and retain skilled workers, fostering a stronger and more capable workforce.
