Approved by the State Board for the Technical College System of Georgia in the fall of 2023, the 8 credit-hour program will launch during Term B of the Spring 2024 semester.

“This is one of the many exciting developments coming out of the MOU we signed with HMGMA in September of last year,” said OTC President Lori Durden. “Creating direct pathways for employment in electric mobility will help grow and support the evolving workforce needs of this region.”

The Electric Vehicle Professional Technical Certificate of Credit was designed in conjunction with Hyundai subject matter experts to provide students with the knowledge and skill to prepare them for entry level employment in the electrical vehicle production industry. Completion of the certificate guarantees an interview with HMGMA.

“The need for a skilled work force in the Automotive Manufacturing segment is only going to increase in Georgia,” said Dr. Ryan Foley, OTC’s Executive Vice President for Academic and Student Affairs. “With the all-electrical vehicle metaplant growing closer to completion, and the growth in electrical vehicle sales and legislation, there is an increasing need for skilled EV professionals to assist in manufacturing and maintenance.”

Students must submit a job application and resume prior to receiving an interview. Completion of the certificate does not guarantee a job with HMGMA. Students must also complete a pre-employment screening, pass the EVP TCC course, and must have 90% or better attendance during the EVP TCC classes.
Students interested in enrolling in the program can visit www.ogeecheetech.edu/autt for more info.
