The adjustment to bus routes comes as a response to potential overcrowding at Mill Creek Elementary School. The school has a maximum student capacity of 756, with 725 students currently enrolled. The school would therefore be unable to support the projected student population growth for the 2018-2019 school year.

Meanwhile Mattie Lively Elementary School and Sallie Zetterower Elementary were built with excess capacity to meet growing demand. Mattie Lively currently has 624 students with a capacity of 945, and Sallie Zetterower Elementary has 714 students with a capacity of 908.

The move affects only bus riders living in those areas. Students living in the effected areas who wish to remain at Mill Creek Elementary School will be able to do so, however parents will be responsible for providing them transportation to and from Mill Creek Elementary School.
