Statesboro Police Department officers responded to reports of a shooting Thursday at Groover Homes on Packinghouse Road. The victim was a teenage male. He was transported to East Georgia Regional Medical Center before being flown to Memorial Health in Savannah, where he remains in critical condition. The investigation is ongoing. The Statesboro Police Department (SPD) is investigating a shooting that occurred on the evening of April 23, 2026, leaving a teenager in critical condition.
At approximately 7:45 p.m. on April 23, SPD Patrol officers were dispatched to the Groover Homes complex on PackinghouseRoad following reports of a shooting. Upon arrival, officers located a 16-year-old male victim and rendered immediate aid. The victim was transported by Bulloch EMS to East Georgia Regional Medical Center and subsequently flown to Memorial Health in Savannah, where he remains in critical condition.
Detectives assigned to the case have processed the scene and conducted multiple interviews. Investigators believe there were additional witnesses present who left the scene before police arrived or who have not yet come forward. This information is considered vital to the investigation.
