Statesboro Police Department Accepting Applications for 2024 Citizens Police Academy

The Statesboro Police Department is now accepting applications for this year’s Citizens Police Academy, which will be October 1 – November 5. The free program consists of a class each Tuesday evening, 6:00 – 8:00 p.m., for 6 weeks.

The classes cover topics such as patrol, traffic, investigation, and special operations. The presentations are slide show/lecture style and will be given by SPD officers and detectives. There will also be multiple opportunities for hands-on learning through equipment demonstrations,  practical scenarios, and ride-a-longs with patrol officers.

Applications are available at SPD, located at 25 West Grady Street, online here, and attached below. The deadline to turn in a completed application is September 17. Seats are limited, and are available on a first come, first serve basis. The department encourages all applicants to be able to commit to the full 6 weeks to get the most out of the program. Applicants are required to be at least 18 years old and to receive criminal history check.
