UPDATE 04/19/2023: SPD says Saleem Thomas turned himself today. He has been booked on 2 counts of Aggravated Assault.
Statesboro Police Department detectives are investigating two shootings that occurred on April 13, the first at W.D. Kent Park on West Grady Street, the second near Bobby Donaldson Avenue. Detectives have identified the shooter as Saleem Thomas. Warrants for Aggravated Assault have been issued for Thomas, and he is considered armed and dangerous.

On 4/13/23 at 10:52 p.m. SPD officers responded to East Georgia Regional Medical Center for a male who had arrived with non-fatal gunshot wounds to the leg. The male indicated that he had been shot at the W.D. Kent Park at 107 West Grady Street. Officers searched that area and located physical evidence of the shooting. The victim was later transferred to Memorial in Savannah and subsequently discharged.
While investigating the first shooting, officers heard gunshots from the direction of Bobby Donaldson Avenue followed by a 911 call reporting a male shot there. Officers located a male victim shot multiple times at that location. The male was transported to Memorial Health where he remains in stable condition.
Detectives investigating both shootings used Fusus camera footage extensively along with interviews to identify Saleem Thomas(23, Statesboro) as the shooter in both incidents. Warrants for Aggravated Assault have been issued for Thomas, and he is considered armed and dangerous .
