From SPD:
On 12/2/24 shortly before 4:00 p.m. SPD officers responded to the Octane Food Mart in the 1400 block of Northside Drive East for a male who had entered the store suffering from a gunshot wound. EMS arrived and transported the adult male victim to East Georgia Regional Medical Center and from there to Memorial Health in Savannah. The victim was able to communicate with detectives prior to his transport. The shooting of the victim did not take place inside of the store or involve its staff. The incident was later determined to have occurred in a wooded area outside of the store.
Review of surveillance video from the store led detectives to identify a person and vehicle of interest. Using the Flock system, officers were able to locate and stop that vehicle approximately two hours later and detain the three occupants. Subsequent interviews and a search of the vehicle led detectives to charge James Deon Scott Jr (38, Success Court, Statesboro) with Aggravated Assault. He was transported to the Bulloch County Jail where he remains pending further judicial action.
