Recent alcohol compliance operations by the Statesboro Police Department have yielded positive results.
Over the past week, SPD’s Alcohol Beverage Control Officer worked with the Georgia Division of Revenue Enforcement Officers checking compliance at 24 local package stores. None of the stores sold to the underage person that was sent in to attempt to purchase alcohol.
From SPD: The Statesboro Police Department truly appreciates the diligent work being done by the clerks at our local stores to ensure that alcohol is not easily obtained by underage persons.
According to the press release, officers with the city and state have also checked for compliance with the underage drinking laws at 19 bars and restaurants over the past month. Only 1 out the 19 businesses sold to an underage person. Seven citations were issued for Underage Possession and six for Possession of a Fake ID.
