SE Ga Road Work: Weekly Traffic Interruption Advisory September 18 – 24

Georgia DOT continues essential road work throughout Southeast Georgia.  As a result, work on construction and maintenance projects will continue Saturday, September 18 through Friday, September 24.

All work subject to change due to weather or other factors. Motorists are cautioned to reduce their speed while traveling thru work zones, pay attention and watch for workers.

Traffic interruptions are listed below by interstates, categories, and counties.

Interstate 16 Interruptions

Bulloch, Bryan, Effingham and Chatham Counties

SR67 to I-95                  

Lane closures for pavement markings

Saturday, September 18 and Friday September 24

From Milepost 126 to 142, 6am to 7pm & 7pm to 6am


I-16 Exits 143, 137, 132, 127, 152 

Ramp closure for pavement markings

Nightly 7p.m. until 6a.m. (one ramp closure at a time)(September 25)

Fully signed detours installed nightly

Detour: proceed to next exit, cross over interchange,

opposite direction on I-16, for interchange access



Interstate 516 Interruptions

Chatham County

I-516 WB Exit 4 On Ramp                                              

Ramp Closure for Concrete Slab Replacement

Beginning Friday, Sept. 17 at 8 pm through 5:30 am Monday, Sept. 20

Detour:  Exit 4 Detour use Tremont Ave to US 17/ Ogeechee Road Traffic will access 516 using exit 3 on ramp



Bridge & Road Closures with Detours

Bryan County

Olive Branch Road (CR 12) over I-16                           

Road closure for bridge raising and rehabilitation

Expected reopening late September 2021

Detour Route: US 280, US 80


Screven County

Beaverdam Creek @ Hilltonia-Perkins RD                  

Road Closure for the bridge replacement project

Expected reopening: December 2021

Detour Route Waynesboro Hwy (Hwy 24), Bascom Rd


Charlton County 

Paxton Rd between Dixie Lake Rd & Marshall Crews Rd   

Road Closure for bridge replacement project
