The Georgia Bureau of Investigation says the remains discovered in Effingham County last month have been identified as those of a missing Bryan County woman.
The agency says it was requested by the Bryan County Sheriff’s Office on July 16 to assist with a missing person investigation. Eight days prior, a friend had reported 44-year-old Renee Reagan missing and Bryan County authorities were told that the friend last spoke to Reagan on October 21, 2019. The GBI said the woman was tied to an Ellabell address in Bryan County.
Four days after the GBI was contacted by the Bryan County Sheriff’s Office, a body was located off Highway 80 in Effingham County. The remains were sent to the GBI Crime Lab for forensic testing and identified as Renee Reagan.
On the same date the body was located, 49-year-old Spencer Robbins was arrested and charged with concealing the death of another and tampering with evidence by the Effingham County Sheriff’s Office.
The cause of death has not been released and the investigation is now being conducted by the Effingham County Sheriff’s Office. Anyone with information is asked to call the Effingham County Sheriff’s Office at 912-754-3449 or text a tip anonymously at 847411.
