At the request of Georgia Power, Georgia DOT announces numerous Interstate 16 traffic paces on Sunday, June 27 between the hours of 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. at transmission lines crossing at milepost 17.7. These traffic paces will be utilized for the removal and raising of overhead high voltage power lines.
Law Enforcement will be piloting traffic paces to maximize safety starting eastbound at Exit 111/Pulaski/Excelsior with exit 116 eastbound entrance ramp halted and westbound at milepost 124 in Bulloch County. Law Enforcement will pace traffic in both directions at 20 mph typically not exceeding 15 minutes. Message boards and advanced warning signs will be in place to alert drivers of police pacing traffic and slow traffic ahead.
Motorists should expect delays during paces in these areas. All work and related activity is weather contingent.
