The Bulloch County Sheriff’s Office is warning citizens of a phone scam where the caller claims to be a deputy from BCSO:
The scam artists (thieves) are at it again. If you receive a call from someone claiming to be a deputy from the Sheriff’s Office informing you that you have an outstanding warrant, you missed a court date, you have an unpaid citation, etc. IT IS A SCAM. They will be so nice as to giving you the opportunity to avoid arrest by paying them with a Green Dot Card, wire transfers, and one of our favorites, Apple pay. Please do not fall for this scam and don’t ever give out personal or financial information to anyone that you do not know. If you ever have a question regarding one of these calls, just hang up and call the Sheriff’s Office and we will be happy to verify that it is a scam. The Sheriff’s Office will never conduct business of this nature via telephone.
