BCSO Assists US Marshals in Wanted Person Case from Massachusetts

The Bulloch County Sheriff’s Office, along with the Statesboro-Bulloch Crime Suppression Team, assisted the Us Marshalls last week in apprehending a wanted person out of Massachusetts.

On August 17, while actively seeking 38 year-old Avis Collins on a warrant out of Massachusetts, the US Marshalls requested the help of the Bulloch County Sheriff’s Office. It was determined that Collins was at a residence on Eldora Road in Ellabell.

Sgt Rey Rodriquez assisted in the execution of the arrest warrant and arrested Collins. She was occupying a child’s bedroom, along with 43 year-old Gihan Alcantara of Massachusetts. Sgt Rodriquez identified a 12 gauge shotgun under the mattress in the bedroom, which was later found to have been stolen in a burglary in Effingham County in 2013.While searching Collins, he discovered quantities of cocaine, marijuana and MDMA ( tablets and powder). The Statesboro-Bulloch Crime Suppression Team was called to assist in the investigation.

The children that were also present at the residence were turned over to a family member.

Collins has been charged with Possession of Cocaine, Possession of a Schedule I or II Drug, Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon, Theft by Receiving Stolen Property-Firearm, Possession of Marijuana, and wanted out of Massachusetts.
