A local hero was honored at Tuesday’s city council meeting.

Statesboro Police Officer Nathan Janney was awarded the “Lifesaving Award” by Chief Mike Broadhead after he administered CPR on an unresponsive Statesboro resident for 7 minutes until EMS arrived last month.. Doctors said that had it not been for Officer Janney’s relentless efforts, the man would not have survived.

Members of Janney’s family were present as the award was presented, as was the man who Janney saved just two weeks ago, joined by his wife.

“Words cannot express how much we love you and thank you,” she said.
