East Georgia Regional Medical Center recently honored two outstanding leaders for the 2020 year: Clinical Manager of the Year was awarded to Kristie Perkins, RN, Director of Surgical Services; and Non-Clinical Manager of the Year was awarded to Jill Boykin, CPA, CGMA, Controller.
Clinical Manager of the Year: Kristie Perkins, RN, has been with East Georgia Regional Medical Center for 27 years, and leads the hospital’s Surgical Services Department. That role includes the Operating Rooms, Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU), Same Day Surgery, Pre-Assessment, and Central Sterile Departments. When asked what makes Kristie exceptional at her job, her peers wrote: “Kristie demonstrates an exceptional attitude and behavior at all times, without fail. She is patient and calm, always listening carefully and responding with courtesy, composure, and compassion. Most importantly, she is the epitome of a team player, always willing to pitch in and take on whatever necessary to deliver results and exceptional patient care. She is always one of the first to volunteer when asked, but often she’s the first to the plate to identify opportunities, recommend new actions and take the lead, whether it’s in her area of responsibility or not.” Kristie was previously awarded Hospital Nurse of the Quarter back in 2007. Outside her role as Director of Surgical Services, she serves as a Moderator for Ogeechee Technical College’s Scrub Tech Program Advisory Committee, is a member of the hospital’s Nursing Leadership Team, serves on one of EGRMC’s Environment of Care (EOC) Committees, and is very active in several committees at her church.
Non-Clinical Manager of the Year: Jill Boykin, CPA, CGMA, Controller, has been with East Georgia Regional Medical Center for 28 years, beginning her career in January 1992. Her co-workers wrote in her nomination for this award: “Jill is a gifted leader and an invaluable resource to East Georgia Regional Medical Center. She is always pleasant and has an outstanding attitude. Jill has built a highly functioning finance team around her. She never misses deadlines, and her attention to detail is excellent. Having self-starters like Jill on our team is an absolute pleasure. She is extremely organized, always accessible, and a great team leader.” In years past, Jill was named Hospital Manager of the Quarter back in 2002 and 2006. Other than being an outstanding leader in the Finance Department, Jill serves on the Board for CORE Credit Union, serves on the Bulloch County Voting Commission Board, is a member of the Kiwanis Club, serves on the Finance Board at First Baptist Church, and also sings in the choir there as well.
“We are proud to have Kristie and Jill recognized as our 2020 Managers of the Year,” said Stephen Pennington, CEO of the hospital. “These ladies are valuable members of our leadership team, and have been for many years. Their dedication, professionalism, hard work and commitment to our hospital are seen and appreciated by many. We congratulate Kristie and Jill, and thank them for all that they do each and every day.”
