SPD investigating murder at Campus Crossings

The Statesboro Police Department is investigating a murder that occurred at Campus Crossings at Statesboro, located on Lanier Drive.

On 10/19/16 at approximately 12:28 a.m., officers of the Statesboro Police Department were patrolling the area of Lanier Drive when they heard and responded to the sounds of gun shots in the area of Campus Crossings at Statesboro. When officers arrived they located a subject with a gunshot wound and began to render aid and investigate. Bulloch County Sheriff’s Office deputies and Georgia Southern University Police Department officers also responded to the area to assist.

Bulloch County Emergency Medical Service was requested immediately to the scene. The subject was transported to the East Georgia Regional Medical Center for treatment. While at East Georgia Regional Medical Center, the subject died from the injury.

Detectives of Statesboro Police Department’s Criminal Investigations Bureau responded to the scene, which was turned over to them. This case is still under investigation and no further information is being released at this time.
