With just three days left of early voting before the May 24th Board of Elections, 2,199 people have early voted in Bulloch County.
Results as of 9AM on May 18, 2016:
REPUBLICAN:
- 1,797 in person ballots cast
- 182 absentee by mail ballots returned
- 109 absentee ballots outstanding that were mailed, but have not been returned to the Board of Elections
DEMOCRAT
- 169 in person ballots casts
- 27 absentee by mail ballots returned
- 40 absentee ballots outstanding that were mailed, but have not been returned to the Board of Elections
NONPARTISAN
- 21 in person ballots cast
- 3 absentee by mail ballots returned
- 3 absentee ballots outstanding that were mailed but have not been returned to the Board of Elections
Essentially, 152 people have requested absentee ballots but have not yet returned them to the Elections Office.
In 2014, just over 6,000 people turned out to vote in the May primary – over 1,600 of which were from advance voting. With 33% of the 2014 numbers having already turned out, it appears predictions of higher turnout because of the contentious Sheriff’s race may be correct.
Election Day is Tuesday, May 24th. Bulloch County residents can vote early at the Bulloch County Annex in Statesboro. A photo ID is required.
