Trion Softball, Coaches & Players Honored by State

Trion Softball picked up some State-level recognition over the weekend for the outstanding 2017 season in which the Lady Bulldogs went 24-9 and were the GHSA Class A State Runner-Up.

Receiving honors Saturday at the Georgia Dugout Club Banquet were Head Coach, Jason Lanham, who was named Georgia Dugout Club Class A Coach of the Year. Trent Stamey was selected Class A Assistant Coach of the Year and Shayla Youngblood was selected the Georgia Dugout Club Class A Player of the Year.

Lanham now has a post-season record of 21-9, with 174 total wins in just eight seasons. “I’m am so excited and proud for both Shayla and Trent they have both accomplished so much and are very deserving of the recognition they received from the Georgia Dugout Club, with all that being said I’m extremely grateful for the outstanding support we receive from both our administration and community, there absolutely no doubt that softball is important Trion, Georgia,” Lanham said.

For Youngblood, she finishes her high school career with a .451 batting average, 62 RBIs, 67 stolen bases. Youngblood has an opportunity to continue her softball career at Martin Methodist.
