Chattooga County School System Bus Incident

An incident involving a Chattooga County School System bus driver and a six-year old student occurred on October 18 during the morning route to school. AllOnGeorgia spoke to Superintendent Jimmy Lenderman and Sheriff Mark Schrader regarding the issue.

When any incident occurs on a bus, the driver fills out a form and gives it to the student’s principal. The parent then comes into the school for a conference. This procedure was followed in this situation.

Chattooga County School System has cameras installed on every bus, so there is video footage of the incident. “We have taken the video to the proper authorities,” Lenderman said.

The proper authorities in this case included Sheriff Mark Schrader. “I have watched the video. I saw no evidence of anything that would warrant a criminal investigation. The driver was not excessive in his contact with the student who was being aggressive to other students,” Sheriff Schrader said.
