Jenna Mosley Top 30 in Class of 2022

USA Elite Select 30 camp was held in Baton Rouge, LA on August 18-20. The goal of the Select 30 All American National Camp is to help identify, expose, and develop the elite level amateur players in America. This National Camp allows the top players in each graduation class to gather in one location and compete on the field to showcase our top amateur talent. Participating athletes will have the opportunity to showcase their individual talents through two days of evaluations on athletic and game performance.

Players will be evaluated on athletic testing, offensive and defensive testing, mental toughness and overall game performance. After all evaluations were completed the Select 30 Task Force selected the top 30 athletes in each graduation glass. To attend this National Camp, the athlete had to be invited to participate. In May 2017, Jenna Mosley received an invitation to participate. After much thought, she decided she wanted to attend.

On Thursday, her and her parents left for Baton Rouge, LA. It was around an 8-hour trip. On Friday, August 18th, began the introduction meeting at the LSU Tiger Park. The camp ranged from graduating classes of 2023 to 2018 (7th grade to 12th grade) with around 760 participates from 40 different states. Jenna is in the graduating class of 2022 which included 137 athletes from all over the United States in this grad class. After the introduction meeting, the graduating class of 2022 were dismissed and sent to Zachary Youth Park to begin their testing. The testing included 10 Yard Dash, 20 Yard Dash, 40 Yard Dash, Agility Shuffle, Bat Speed, Ball Exit Speed, Arm Speed, Grip Right, Grip Left, Defense Skills, and Offensive Skills. Around 3:30 the testing was completed and the class of 2022 was dismissed for the day.

On Saturday, the class of 2022 was moved to the Oak Villa Park and was divided up into 12 different teams (12-11 players per team). Jenna was on Team #11 and played scrimmage games at 9:30 & 3:00. During the games, she played several positions including 2nd base, short stop, left field, right field, 1st base, and 3rd base. Her bat was hot in both games going 2 for 3 each game. After these games were completed then everyone had to wait to receive an email around 9 pm on the 30 athletes selected for each class. The Select 30 Task Force selection process took longer than expected and the email did not go out until 10:30 pm. At that time, Jenna found out she made the top 30 in the graduating class of 2022 and was on the Navy Team.

On Sunday, she arrived back at Zachary Youth Park for the final day of games which was televised by FloSoftball.com. Each of the 30 selected for each graduating class received new jersey, helmet, batting gloves, bat, and visor. The 1st game started at 9:30 with Navy team being visitors. Jenna lead off the inning with a stand-up triple but was stranded on base. Unfortunately, the Navy team ended up losing the game to the Red team. Both teams had about a 20-minute break and then game #2 began. Jenna did reach base on a fielder’s choice and scored a run this game but the Navy team lost again to the Red team. Jenna did make some great defensive plays during both games playing positions at 2nd base and short stop. At the end of the games all Select 30 athletes received rings.

This was a great experience for Jenna to compete against other athletes in her same graduating class. She met athletes from New Mexico, Hawaii, North Carolina, Texas, Oregon, and many other states.
Jenna would like to thank Coach Chattin, Coach Hammontree, Coach White, and the ProStar Organization for believing in her and always pushing her to be better. She would also like to thank Trion City Schools, Coach Brooks, Coach Bell, Coach Lanham, Coach Stamey, Coach Stamey, and Coach Shepherd for supporting her.

She would like to thank the community for their support and love they have shown throughout the weekend as well. And most of all she wants to thank her parents for the support they give her to allow her to experience all the events she has attended.
