Regional Early Voting Numbers for Southeast Georgia

Early voting from the November 8th election began Monday, October 17 and runs through November 4, but thousands of Georgians are already taking advantage of the opportunity to cast their ballot early.

As of the close of business on Wednesday, October 19, 2016, here’s how some Southeast Georgia counties are panning out:
*All numbers are direct from county voter registrar offices.

BULLOCH COUNTY

  • Population – 71,214
  • Registered voters – 43,630 (61.2% of the population)
  • Early in-person voting – 1,447
  • Absentee ballots requested – 860
  • Absentee ballots returned – 388

CANDLER COUNTY

  • Population – 10,937
  • Registered voters – Registrar’s office unable to provide this information
  • Early in-person voting – Registrar’s office unable to provide this information
  • Absentee ballots requested – 493 (per Georgia Secretary of State)
  • Absentee ballots returned – Registrar’s office unable to provide this information

EVANS COUNTY

  • Population – 10,833
  • Registered voters – 5,620 (51.87% of the population)
  • Early in-person voting – 363
  • Absentee ballots requested – 150
  • Absentee ballots returned – 84

SCREVEN COUNTY 

  • Population – 14,240
  • Registered voters – 9,546 (67.12% of population)
  • Early in-person voting – 432
  • Absentee ballots requested – 143
  • Absentee ballots returned – [pending report]

TATTNALL COUNTY 

  • Population – 25,526
  • Registered voters – 9,285 (36.37% of population & population includes 3 prisons)
  • Early in-person voting – 333
  • Absentee ballots requested – 540
  • Absentee ballots returned – 213

WAYNE COUNTY 

  • Population – 30,077
  • Registered voters – 17,002 (56% of population)
  • Early in-person voting – 933
  • Absentee ballots requested –
  • Absentee ballots returned –

A whopping 146,511 in-person votes were cast on the first day alone.
