On Friday, October 16th, the Trion High School dual enrollment Spanish 1001 class traveled to Atlanta and visited the Atlanta Symphony Hall theatre. There, the class watched the musical Mexodus.
Mexodus explores the relationship between a former slave escaping slavery through the Underground Railroad to Mexico. There, he meets a Mexican farm owner who aids his escape further.
Trion High School Spanish Teacher, Señora Patrick, remarks, “Our field trip to the Alliance Theatre to see Mexodus was an incredible experience! The talent of the two performers in this Off-Broadway show was so impressive. We learned about a lesser-known part of U.S. history while also being immersed in the Spanish language in what is described as “an electrifying theatrical experience.”
Before heading back, students gathered at a nearby food court, consisting of different styles of food from various places around the world. Students enjoyed their favorite cuisine and sat in the quad, enjoying the sun with a few other schools that attended the production.
