Trion High School sends a warm welcome to Ashley Sanford! Mrs. Sanford will be teaching Environmental Science during the 2026-2027 school year. She is excited to join the THS faculty, saying it’s a privilege and that THS is an exceptional place to teach and learn.
She is thrilled to join the THS family, saying, “THS is home to me. With my daughter attending high school here and my husband and I both alumni, I couldn’t be more proud or excited to be a THS teacher,” and that “being able to give back as an educator to the school that shaped me is a dream come true!”
Mrs. Sanford earned her Bachelor of Science degree from Auburn University in Alabama and a master’s degree in Secondary Science Education. She is already a long-time Bulldog, as she previously taught science at Trion Middle School for almost 20 years.
When asked what her expectations were for the school year, Mrs. Sanford stated: “Primary expectation is to build a collaborative, engaging classroom environment where students feel supported to explore the world around us.” From her students, she expects high curiosity and effort, and they can expect her dedication to their success and growth.
Mrs. Sanford’s message to current and future students is that her class is not one you only take for credit, but it’s “the study of the world you live in every single day.” She hopes they will come to class with an open mind and willingness to ask questions, saying “you will leave with a far deeper understanding of how the natural world works and how we impact it.
She hopes to leave her students with a “lasting curiosity” about the world around them and have the confidence to pursue answers independently. Outside of the classroom and academics, she wants each student to know they have a supporter at THS.
Mrs. Sanford wants her students to know that she genuinely cares about their success, both as scholars and individuals. She stated, “I am always here to help them work through challenges, whether academic or personal. I want my students to know that I am deeply invested in this school and community.”
Ashley Sanford is excited to immerse herself within the THS community and culture, stating “There is an unmistakable pride here, and I cannot wait to support our students both in the classroom and at extracurricular events, games, and school activities!”
