Alex DeBerry: Trion High School’s Newest Bulldog of World History

Trion High School sends a warm welcome to Alex DeBerry! Mr. DeBerry is one of the newest faculty Bulldogs on the Hill and teaches World History. He is very excited to teach at his alma mater and help students achieve their aspirations!

As a kid, Mr. DeBerry always enjoyed social studies and knew he wanted to teach it. Even then, he could not imagine teaching any other subject, and his favorite social studies topic to teach is World War II.

Mr. DeBerry is a Trion graduate of the class of 2014. He is also an Air Force veteran. He earned an associate’s degree in Intelligence Studies from the Community College of the Air Force and a bachelor’s degree in History from the University of North Georgia.

Mr. DeBerry has been married to his wife, Sarah, for nine years, and they have a 7-month-old daughter named Ruth. Before teaching at THS, he taught at LaFayette Middle School as the 8th-grade Georgia Social Studies teacher for the previous two years.

Mr. DeBerry enjoys spending time with his family, traveling, coaching, and watching football. He also enjoys reading when he has a chance, saying, “My current favorite book is Red Rising.” Additionally, he enjoys listening to most music genres, but his favorite is country music.

With his students, Mr. DeBerry would love to leave them with Winston Churchill’s inspirational quote: “It is a mistake to look too far ahead. Only one link in the chain of destiny can be handled at a time.”

Emmie Haven Groce is a creative and hardworking honors student at Trion High School. She is the senior editor of the Bulldog Barker, President and founder of the THS Film Society, Co-President of FBLA, and a member of TSA competing at state in Digital Video Production. Emmie also regularly volunteers at the local Community Resource Center and her local library. After graduation, she plans to attend a four-year university to study both Film Production and Literature.
