Trion Man Killed in Walker County Shooting

A Trion man is dead after an argument escalated into a shooting Friday night in Walker County.

According to Walker County Sheriff Steve Wilson, deputies responded to a call just after 9 p.m. at a residence on Ridgewood Street in Rossville. When they arrived, they found a man dead in the front yard.

The victim has been identified as 59-year-old Jerry Hightower of Trion.

Witnesses told deputies the suspected shooter was sitting on the porch of a nearby home across the street when they arrived.

The suspect, identified as James Richard Nowlin, was taken into custody without incident. He is currently being held in the Walker County Jail without bond and is facing a charge of murder.
