The Oak Hill & The Martha Berry Museum is pleased to host another “Family Morning” program in conjunction with the spring breaks of Floyd County and Rome City Schools. Designed to engage young learners and their families through interactive, educational experiences, this family-friendly event will take place on Wednesday, April 8, from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
Offered free of charge and open to all ages, Family Mornings are held several times throughout the year during school breaks and provide an enriching way for families to explore the museum together. April’s program centers on the theme of “Generosity,” highlighting some of the many individuals whose contributions helped shape Berry College.
This theme is especially fitting as the event coincides with Berry College’s first annual Day of Giving, a 24-hour campaign beginning at midnight on April 8, 2026. The Day of Giving supports Berry’s academics, athletics, scholarships and overall student experience. Learn more at dayofgiving.alwaysberry.com.
Families are invited to engage with the theme of generosity through a variety of hands-on activities, including:
- Writing a thoughtful thank-you note like those written by Martha Berry to early donors of the Berry Schools
- Creating watercolor paintings inspired by Mary Reynolds Morton, an influential donor to The Martha Berry Museum
- Participating in a STEM-based exploration of Berry College’s iconic Old Mill, whose construction was made possible through gifts from Henry Ford and The Republic Mining and Manufacturing Company
In addition to the themed activities, families will be able to tour the childhood home of Martha Berry for a nominal fee at 10:00 a.m., 11:00 a.m., and 12:00 p.m. These tours are intended for children ages 6–10, though all ages are welcome. While the event and activities are free, regular admission fees apply for the tours, and reservations are encouraged through the museum’s standard reservation page.
