Erin Brockovich Returns to Northwest Georgia Announces New Water, Soil, and Dust Testing Campaign in Rome, Ga. and Surrounding Counties

Famed consumer advocate, Erin Brockovich, will be returning to northwest Georgia for the first time in over a year to continue to speak about the dangers of “forever chemicals” found in nearby waters and meet with residents impacted by the contamination. After over 20 months of working in the region, the volume of testing in northwest Georgia has surpassed that of any other region in the country and reveals some of the highest levels of “forever chemicals” in the nation.

And after obtaining more data on the extremely high levels of forever chemicals in water and soil in northwest Georgia, the PFAS Georgia team has made a strategic decision to aggressively test water, dust, and soil in Rome, Ga. and six additional counties (Floyd, Bartow, Polk, Paulding, Chattooga and Haralson). Although the PFAS Georgia team has been working in Rome over the past 20 months, there is now an urgent need to expand testing for residents of Rome and the surrounding areas.

At a press conference on Monday, March 30 at 10:00 a.m., Brockovich will be joined by PFAS Georgia attorney Ben Finley and water expert Bob Bowcock to announce the expansion to additional areas, including Rome and the six surrounding counties; new water, soil, and test results; and updates on litigation and legislation regarding “forever chemicals.”

On the evenings of March 30 and 31, 2026, members of the public and the media are invited to a town hall with Brockovich, Finley and Bowcock to learn how residents can get their property tested and how to seek legal action, along with an update on proposed legislation that will shield PFAS polluters from liability. The PFAS Georgia team will also share what residents and business owners can do to protect their land and water.

The press conference is open to the press. This town hall is open to community members and the media.
